A revolutionary new approach to folding socks

Sock folding has burdened man-kind since the beginning of time. Not only is it tedious, but just getting started can be a daunting task. Here we present a very simple and practical approach to achieve this:

Start by dumping the clean socks onto a bed, couch or other suitable folding location.

Because of the strenuous nature of this exercise, we highly recommend you rest up before beginning any of the real work.

Start by picking through the socks

You'll want to separate the socks into piles of near-matching color. At this point it should be noted that a gray sock is just a stained sock. It's soul is still white, and eventually we will find it's equally-stained partner.

At this point the piles should be forming nicely.

Two discrete piles of socks. This is a necessary first step of the sorting process.

The day is long and the sun is hot. You've got a ways to go before all is done. Rest up before moving on.

After your nap, you will want to start laying out all of the socks from one pile in front of you.

This is what it should look like with the socks laid out. They should all be facing the same direction so you can easily pick the mates.

Do these two match? Nope. Set them back down and try again.

Here's a good match. Notice how they have the same stain pattern and stretched size. That is exactly what you should be looking for.

It might be a good idea to go on a quick snooze cruise before actually attempting the fold.

Start by holding the socks up against each other in the same orientation with one thumb in.

Pull the thumbed sock over both of the socks by rolling it out while tucking your fingertips in.

Continue with this motion, stretching the outer sock inside-out over both.

Push what's left all the way in.

The finished product! At this point the sock is drawer-ready. Repeat these steps for all other socks.

At some point you will find that you may have 1 or more "left" socks. These are socks that only go on your left foot and have no right foot counterpart.

Try matching them up as best you can. See these? Close enough!

If the sizes are really off, you may have to get creative in folding them up.

Looks good!

Here is the finished pile of folded socks. Place them on the floor, in a box or in your drawer.

There's nothing more satisfying than a job well done.
